Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered arms and ammunition in an operation conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Kogul Village of Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
Media Information Officer for the military Taskforce, Major Samson Zhakom, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, said the troop acting on superior intelligence, raided the hideouts of the suspected cattle rustlers and made the breakthrough.
Zhakom said during the operation, the gallant troops arrested the two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, one mobile phone, and cash.
He stated that the operation was part of efforts to curtail the menace of cattle rustling which often triggers crisis in the Joint Operations Area.
He noted that the arrested suspects and recovered items are in the custody of troops for investigation while the troops are conducting follow-up operations to intercept and arrest other members of the criminal syndicate.
