‘We’ve Spent A Lot of Money on Preparation,’ Plateau United Claims of The NPFL Postponement
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has come under fire from Plateau United for abruptly delaying the commencement of the new Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season. The NPFL board just postponed the start of the 2023/2024 season, which had been scheduled for September 9. The league’s inaugural tournament has been postponed, according to Andrew Ekejiuba, media officer of GTI/NFF, to allow its members to focus on the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) annual general meeting (AGM) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. Plateau United were scheduled to play Shooting Stars in the season opener in Ibadan. Yaksat Maklek, the Jos-based club’s director of media operations, told Plateau Watch that they learned of the postponement while at the IMC office in Abuja seeking documents.
