Armed gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia on Tuesday night, attacked the Wereng community, Riyom Local Council of Plateau State, killing at least three persons and injuring several others.
According to a youth leader in the community, the well coordinated attackers simultaneously invaded Kuru Station, Wereng, Gwon, Gwa-Rim and Rinyan communities, and wrecked havoc on the residents before escaping.
The youth leader said the casualties would have been more if the youths and security personnel stationed at Gwarim, a neighbouring community, had not mobilised and confronted them.
