Suspected bandits invade Wase community, kidnap family of 3, injure 2

The gunmen arrived in the community around 10am and started shooting sporadically

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits, on Monday morning, invaded the Harding community in Dogon Ruwa, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, and abducted a husband, wife and their child, and injured two people in the process .

A youth leader in the community, Shapi’i Sambo, who confirmed the incident to our journalists, said the gunmen arrived in the community around 10am and started shooting sporadically to scare people before abducting the victims.

“When the gunmen arrived in the community, people were going about their normal activities. The gunmen started shooting sporadically to disperse residents,” Sambo said.

“The victims were forced into the waiting vehicle and drove away with members of the gang trailing behind on motorcycles.

‘Many people fled for safety. Unfortunately, two people were abducted. The armed men came with sophisticated weapons. Some victims were taken to hospital in Dogo Ruwa,” he said.

Sambo added that security men were later deployed to the community, while local vigilantes and other local security outfits are combing the bush in the area to rescue those kidnapped.
