The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and citizens of Plateau State in the aftermath of the tragic Christmas Eve attacks, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives and the displacement of numerous households.
During a courtesy visit to the New Government House Little Rayfield, where they met with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the delegation, led by Pa. Ayo Adebanjo, leader of the Afenigere Group, stressed the pressing need for the establishment of State Police across the country to effectively address the prolonged security challenges facing the nation.
Pa Adebanjo vehemently condemned the deliberate actions of terrorist elements who invaded villages, causing loss of life and forcibly displacing people from their ancestral homes to seize land.
He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resist any attempts by such elements to oppress innocent people and called for decisive action against the perpetrators of the Christmas Eve attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi.
Expressing gratitude for Governor Mutfwang’s triumph and affirmation at the Supreme Court, Pa Adebanjo assured the Governor of the Forum’s unwavering support. He expressed the hope that future visits would not be for condolences.
In response, Governor Mutfwang conveyed profound appreciation to the delegation for their love and solidarity, pledging to fulfill the mandate of building a united and prosperous Plateau without bias. He thanked former Governor Jonah David Jang, Plateau’s elders, and its people for their commitment to a peaceful Nigeria.
Governor Mutfwang vowed to protect the people from deadly invasions, asserting, “We will do our best to ensure that our people enjoy the land that God has given them in peace.”
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his judicious approach to legal matters and swift response to the Christmas Eve attacks.
