Mr. Shepherd Marjul Lander, widely recognized as “Plateau’s First Son,” has formally announced his candidacy for the position of Secretary General of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC) in the forthcoming 2024 elections.

Shepherd’s decision to run stems from his long-standing commitment to humanitarian service and leadership, both of which he views as essential tools for societal transformation.

In his recent address, Shepherd highlighted his early exposure to leadership training, which has significantly shaped his approach to service. “Leadership is a venture that one must contribute to in order to transform and add value to society,” he stated, underscoring his belief that leadership is a collective responsibility. His aspiration to become the Secretary General is driven by a desire to create a positive impact on the lives of Plateau youths.

Shepherd emphasized the role of the Plateau Youth Council as a vital platform for uniting the youth and preserving their shared heritage. As part of his vision, Shepherd is determined to leverage his role as Secretary General to address the pressing challenges faced by the youth. He plans to establish an online submission system that would allow youths across Plateau State to voice their concerns and contribute ideas. This initiative aims to create a more inclusive and accessible platform for all youths to engage with the council’s activities and decision-making processes.

Shepherd’s campaign emphasizes unity and reconciliation among Plateau youths, addressing deep-seated ethnic and tribal issues. Addressing these challenges head-on is crucial for progress and national and global representation.

Shepherd’s vision for the PYC extends beyond mere rhetoric. He intends to establish a platform within the council that allows for open dialogue and resolution of these critical issues. By doing so, he hopes to create a more cohesive and united youth community that can collectively address the challenges facing them.

In his appeal to the youth, Shepherd made it clear that his leadership journey is not a solo endeavor but a collective effort. “It is not something that I can do alone; it’s something that we will do as a people,” he said, calling on all Plateau youths to join him in his quest to build a stronger, more united community.

As Shepherd Marjul Lander embarks on this significant journey, his candidacy for Secretary General of the Plateau Youth Council represents a commitment to leadership, unity, and reconciliation.
