The former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has lampooned First Lady, Remi Tinubu, following her visit to Plateau State where she made a donation of N500 million to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) in the state.
Mrs. Tinubu had, on Tuesday, visited Plateau where she made a donation of the sum to the IDP’s located in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Jos South, and Bassa local governments of the state.
The First Lady had described the gesture as a “modest step towards assisting afflicted families in healing from their wounds, rebuilding their lives, and resettling in their communities.”
But in a reaction on Wednesday, the former Senator described the donation as mere window dressing as government at various levels continue to neglect the people only to make such donations and wait until another set of citizens are massacred.
Sani who made his views known on his X account on said:
“Since 1999 every government has its own share of experience with the killings in Plateau State.
“After the corpses are buried, money is donated to the widows, orphans and the displaced victims, then the wait for the next round of massacre.
“A state richly endowed and uniquely gifted & graced by nature has been successfully turned into a perennial killing field.
“Plateau is paradox of a state blessed with everything and cursed with conflict. The soil of the Plateau can grow any seed but it must grow the seed of peace first,” he wrote.
