An armed gunman was on Sunday, April 20th, 2025, arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) inside a church premises in Bokkos local government area of Plateau State as worshippers gathered to celebrate Easter Sunday service.
A report by counter-insurgency and security expert, Zagazola Makama stated that the suspect was apprehended at about 8:30 a.m. when the NSCDC operatives, acting on superior intelligence, arrested the gunman during a routine security patrol around the church compound.
“The suspect was found in possession of a gun and could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for it,” Makama said.
“The swift action of our operatives helped prevent what could have escalated into a serious security breach,” Zagazola said while quoting a security source.
He added that the identity of the suspect had not yet been to be disclosed, he has been transfered to the command’s headquarters in Jos pending the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
