The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam, has severely denounced the recent abduction of female students from the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, September 22, 2023, in the Sabo-Gida region of Zamfara State.
Rev. Pam, who is also the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, condemned the criminals’ actions as callous and inhumane. He also scowled at the abductors’ evil and despicable behaviour, which took advantage of the fact that the abductees were harmless female students who could not have opposed them due to their frailty.
To that end, he characterised the kidnappers’ actions as cowardly.
Rev Pam, a global Peace Ambassador and the founder of the Southern Kaduna Peace Joint Committee, urged security services to act promptly to free the abducted female students from their captors.
He emphasised the need of the government ensuring that the hostels of female students at the Federal University of Gasau are secure and manned by security officers in order to prevent a repeat of such horrible act.
The NCPC chief also urged the abductees’ parents to be patient and to have faith that their children would be retrieved alive and returned to them safely.
He insisted that security is a vital priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and that he will stop at nothing until Nigerians can sleep with their two eyes closed.
Rev. Pam also urged the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Inspector General of Police to work together to find the perpetrators of this atrocity against these innocent female students.
He emphasised that security is a key concern for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and that he will go to whatever length to ensure that Nigerians may sleep peacefully with their eyes closed.
Rev. Pam also encouraged the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, and Inspector General of Police to collaborate in finding the perpetrators of this atrocity against these defenceless female students.
It is my conviction that the security challenges being experienced in most parts of the country, particularly in the north, will soon be a thing of the past, given the calibre of those in charge of our security agencies and Mr President’s determination to put an end to this ugly situation that has embarrassed our people.
Insecurity has no hiding place under this administration’s Renewed Hope motto, he claims.
