PLHA sacks Langtang North LG Chairman, Bitrus Zulfa

The embattled Chairman of Langtang North local government area, Bitrus Zulfa, has been removed from office by the Plateau State House of Assembly, with a motion for him to vacate the office immediately or risk being arrested.

The removal of Zulfa came barely hours after the House resumed plenary after being shut down for several weeks on the orders of the former administration of Simon Lalong.

The Assembly also directed the State Police Commissioner to unseal the Lantang North Council secretariat for the immediate reinstatement of Hon. Ubandoma Laven as the constitutional Chairman of the council.

The reinstated Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba, who announced the removal of Zulfa while addressing journalists on Tuesday after plenary, said Zulfa was not the rightful occupant of the office and as such, should vacate the seat with immediate effect.

Hon. Abok added that the embattled chairman Hon. Zulfa Rinven is not the rightful occupant of the seat and therefore he should vacate the seat and ask the State Police Commissioner, Bartholomew Onyeka, to enforce the judgement because a motion has been passed to that effect

Recall that an appeal court had earlier ordered Zulfa of the APC to vacate office, describing his election as illegal as there was already a Chairman on the seat in the person of Ubandoma of the PDP before his illegal election.

The order was however not followed as Zulfa was adamant to stay in office with the Police allegedly protecting him.
