Plateau United Football Club of Jos was N2 million richer after defeating visiting Nasarawa United Lafia 1-0 in an NPFL match played at the Jos Internstional Stadium on Sunday.
The bonus was in fulfillment of a promise before match kick-off by the club’s General Manager, Pius Henwan, who had pledged the sum.
Plateau United recorded the victory in a Match Day 15 fixture of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) which took the team to third and into the Super Six playoff of the abridged league.
With the bonus, each of the 20 Plateau United players who took part in the match went home with N100,000.
Plateau United got the only goal of the match in the 13th minute through Nenrot Silas to stamp their superiority over the Solid Miners whom they had defeated by the same scoreline in the away fixture in Kaduna earlier in the league.
After the lone goal and in the second half, the visitors mounted serious pressure on the hosts, but their efforts yielded no result.
Plateau United’s Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, in his post-match interview acknowledged that Nasarawa United played better than his side.
