Plateau Pilgrims to Gain Spiritual and Agricultural Knowledge in 2025 Holy Land Journey

The Plateau State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board is set to offer a transformative experience for the 2025 pilgrims, combining spiritual growth with practical agricultural knowledge.

Reverend Wanson Yusufu Bagu, the Executive Secretary of the Board, revealed that this year’s pilgrimage will provide pilgrims with not only a deeper connection with their faith but also exposure to innovative farming techniques from Israel.

In an exclusive interview, Reverend Bagu emphasized that the pilgrimage is more than just a trip but a profound spiritual exercise for Christians. He noted that the pilgrims would have the opportunity to strengthen their moral and spiritual lives through prayer and reflection in the Holy Land, creating a life-changing experience that will have lasting benefits for them and their families.

In addition to the spiritual benefits, Reverend Bagu outlined plans to integrate agricultural knowledge into the pilgrimage. During a pre-visit to Israel, the Board established ties with the Israeli government, which has promised to share farming techniques, particularly those used near the Sea of Galilee. Pilgrims will gain valuable insights that could significantly improve their economic well-being upon their return.

A total of 882 intending pilgrims are registered for the 2025 pilgrimage, with the first batch of 275 pilgrims departed on January 13. Reverend Bagu highlighted that the pilgrims will begin their journey with a prayer program before traveling to Jordan and Israel for a 10-day experience filled with spiritual and educational activities.

Reverend Bagu also mentioned the challenges of selecting new pilgrims each year, noting that while efforts are made to avoid repeat participants, the current system makes it difficult to fully control this. He expressed a desire to ensure that more people have the opportunity to benefit from the pilgrimage experience.

Furthermore, Reverend Bagu praised the support of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who has been instrumental in facilitating the smooth running of the pilgrimage operations. With the governor’s backing and the commitment of the Board, the 2025 pilgrimage is poised to be a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.

The focus on both spiritual renewal and practical knowledge sets this year’s pilgrimage apart, offering Plateau State pilgrims the chance to return home with not just renewed faith but also skills that could enhance their livelihoods.
