As part of its statewide sensitization campaign to create awareness on the prevalence of HIV/AIDS, Security Awareness, Human Rights, Discouraging Get Rich-Quick Syndrome and the Tax Reform Bills, the Plateau State chapter of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), on Tuesday, staged a colourful road show that was the spectacle to behold.
The road rally which was led by the indefatigable State Director of the NOA, Mrs. Kaneng Tabitha Pam-Hworo, kicked off from the Old Airport Junction with support from staff members, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the WAI Brigade and journalists dancing to renditions of songs by the Eagles Band all the way to the terminal point at the Secretariat Junction.
Mrs. Pam-Hworo who addressed the gathering at the end of the rally, emphasized the importance of the campaign, noting that it encapsulates critical issues and collective efforts aimed at addressing some of the most pressing issues confronting the society, including the menace of HIV/AIDS, Security Awareness, Discouraging the Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome, Human Rights and the Tax Reform Bills recently presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.
She stressed that the campaign was undertaken with a view of changing the mindset of Nigerians and encourage them to key into government programmes as well as discouraging the youths from taking up devices that will not be of benefit to them in the long term.
She added that with the campaign, the NOA is seeking to instill the virtues of patience, hard-work and integrity, noting that the youths must be made to understand that true success comes through dedication and perseverance, not from shortcuts that lead to fraud and economic instability.
Highlighting the need to discourage Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome among Nigerians especially the youths, Mrs. Pam-Hworo stressed that the quest to get-rich-quick has led many citizens down dangerous and criminal paths and other fraudulent activities.
