The APC in Plateau State is very overwhelmed because the PDP led government under Governor Caleb Mutfwang has found it expedient and appropriate to continue with one of the Lalong legacies.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Architect Samuel Jatau, announced that the Mutfwang administration would continue the revitalization of the BARC farm.
Mr Shittu Bamaiyi, Acting Publicity Secretary of the Plateau APC highlighted that the initiative, which was originally recovered by Lalong’s administration for ₦1.6 billion in 2020, is aimed at enhancing the state’s agricultural productivity and economic viability.
The BARC farm, upon its recovery, was handed over to the Plateau Investment and Property Company (PIPC). The PIPC then allocated plots to senior civil servants and laborers, promoting food production, sufficiency, and economic wellbeing among the people of Plateau State.
The continuation and further development of the farm by Governor Mutfwang’s administration is seen as a significant step toward bolstering food production, wealth creation, and job opportunities in the state.
The APC urged the Mutfwang administration to address the entire food value chain to improve and sustain food production. This includes focusing not just on fertilizer procurement but also on modern farming techniques, input supply, and addressing post-harvest losses and storage facilities to benefit small-scale farmers.
Furthermore, the APC suggested that the Mutfwang government should consider revamping the Bokkos fertilizer blending company to reduce procurement costs and create more local job opportunities.
