One Killed, Four Abducted in Plateau Community

The assailants stormed the victims' residence, killing one person on the spot before abducting four others.

Tragedy struck the Shendai community in Quaanpan Local Government Area of Plateau State, where a violent attack by kidnappers left one person dead and four others abducted. The incident occurred on Saturday, leaving the local population in a state of shock and fear.

Reports reveal that the assailants stormed the victims’ residence, killing one person on the spot before abducting four others. Christopher Manship, Chairman of Quaanpan LGA, confirmed the attack in a statement released on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Danaan Sylvanus.

Manship expressed his deep concern over the rising cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area, calling for the swift release of the abducted individuals. He also urged security agencies to intensify efforts in ensuring their safe return.

“The Executive Chairman of Quaanpan Local Government Council, Christopher Audu Manship, extends condolences to the Shendai community in Namu and is appealing to security agencies for the safe rescue of the abducted victims,” the statement read.

In a show of support, the chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and security of citizens. He pledged to work closely with security agencies to expedite the rescue efforts. Manship also led a fact-finding mission to the affected areas, alongside security operatives, including Lt. Col. Ogunrinde Soji, to assess the situation.

During the visit, Manship, accompanied by top local government officials, four councillors of Namu District, and the DPO of Namu Police Division, met with the affected families, offering words of comfort. Lt. Col. Soji assured the community that the military would thoroughly investigate the incident and take necessary steps to rescue the victims and ensure the security of the area.

The chairman concluded by expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased and abducted, reiterating the commitment of the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
