The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum, has renewed its plea for Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to leave from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APC.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the Forum said the call is as a result of directives from the party’s national leadership.
Zazzaga noted that the call for Gov. Mutfwang to join the APC is aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Our campaign is based on a directive from above. Governor Caleb Mutfwang is a progressive, and we believe he belongs in our great party, the APC,” Zazzaga said in the statement.
He went on to warn leaders of the APC in the state against resisting the move to persuade the governor to join the party as such opposition as counter-productive.
“Those who have constituted themselves as cogs in the wheel of progress must tread with caution,” Zazzaga said.
“No intimidation or blackmail will stop us from pursuing what is in the best interest of the APC,” he added.
The Forum Chairman described some stakeholders who accused him of anti-party activities and demanding for his suspension as being economical with the truth, stressing that the Forum insisted its actions are aligned with the broader goals of the party.
“Calling on a sitting governor to join the APC is not anti-party activity. On the contrary, it should be commended by all who want the party to grow,” he said .
Further defending that stance of the Forum, Zazzaga argued that welcoming progressive leaders like Gov. Mutfwang would enhance the party’s appeal and development efforts in the North-Central zone and urged the aggrieved stakeholders not to allow Plateau State to be left behind in the wave of political realignment sweeping the country.
