Despite widespread claims that the Plateau state government declared the disbursement of a 13th-month salary to civil servants, Gyang Bere, the director of press and public affairs, has denied these reports, labelling them as “entirely false and fabricated.”
Mr Bere urged citizens to disregard the rumour as it is an attempt to spread confusion and sow discord within the state.
The earlier reports have claimed that the state government will pay an additional 20,000 Naira to civil servants as part of the Yuletide package. However, Mr Bere says: “No such pronouncement has been made by the governor or any authorised government official.”
According to the Governor’s office, all civil servants in the state received their December salaries on December 17.
