National Immunization Plus Days launched by Plateau Govt, reiterates its commitment to reforming state sector

According to the Plateau State administration, in order to ensure effective healthcare delivery in the State, the administration has completely overhauled the health sector as part of measures to combat paediatric ailments that can be prevented by vaccination.

The Government has been working assiduously to deliver top-notch healthcare and immunization services to all eligible children in cooperation with the State Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Board, UNICEF, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and other partners.

At the Flag-Off of the September 2023 National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs), which was held at the Primary Healthcare Centre Tudun Wada, Jos North LGA of Plateau State, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who was represented by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Her Excellency, Mrs Josephine Piyo, made this announcement.

The National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign in September 2023, according to the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Her Excellency Mrs. Josephine Piyo, “aims to boost population immunity and stop the transmission of the circulating variant polio virus (CVPV2) in Plateau State.”

She continued, “We appreciate and applaud the world of our partners as we strive to achieve universal health coverage in our state and Nigeria as a whole,” after praising their efforts.

The Deputy Governor thanked partners for their bravery and dedication to serving the Plateau State children, and he advised all parents and guardians to send their kids for vaccination and other routine immunisation services from 29 September to 3 October of 2023.

Dr. Raymond Juryit, Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mr. John Istifanus, Sole Administrator of Jos North LGC, representatives from the National Healthcare Development Agency, Rotary Club, WHO, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Gbong Gwom Jos represented by Gwom Rwei Riyom Da Sam Jok, and others were present at the event.

To officially kick off the exercise, which is expected to extend for the next four days, the Deputy Governor performed the ceremonial administration of a few doses of the polio vaccine to a small number of children. At the occasion, she was attended by dignitaries.
