“Azeez Fashola a popularly known as Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Lagos police command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin said late Tuesday. Naira Marley is anticipated to assist the police in their investigation into the passing of his former signee Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as MohBad.
He tweeted on Tuesday, “I’d like to share that I’ve just returned to Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation.”
“I must contribute in some way to help Imole. In the hopes that the truth will be revealed and justice will be done, I will be meeting with the police.
The action taken on Tuesday is the most recent development after Mohbad’s passing. He allegedly suffered abuse before passing away, and his death occurred in suspicious circumstances.
Nigerians have sought a probe into the circumstances of his death ever since he passed away. Many areas of Nigeria saw protests as young people flocked to the streets to express their outrage over the singer’s passing.
Police officials exhumed Mohbad’s bones despite the fact that he was buried less than two days after passing away. Later, an autopsy was performed, but the results are still pending.
The Senate visited the late singer’s family and observed a moment of silence in honour of the star’s passing, showing that the Federal Government has also taken an interest in the situation.
The Department of State Services (DSS) was also invited to participate in the investigation by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who pledged to see that justice was done.
