The Executive Chairman of Mangu local government area, Hon. (Amb.) Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to partner with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to train youths in various skills to enable them become self-employed.
He made this known when he received staff of the Industrial Training Fund, Jos, at his office in Mangu yesterday.
Represented by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Yakwen, the Chairman emphasized the importance of capacity building, enhancing the technical knowledge of the youths in the local government.
Hon. Yakwen appreciated ITF for their role in capacity building and promised to look into their proposal for a training program.
He noted that given the peculiarity of Mangu local government, which has been bedeviled by some form of crisis and economically affected, the training would go a long way in empowering the youths.
Yakwen assured the ITF team that the local government is open to collaboration and would work closely with them to implement the proposal.
He suggested that it would be beneficial if ITF in collaboration with the local government could support the participants with start-up packs after the training.
Earlier speaking, the leader of the delegation, Engineer Mary D. Igbur, the Jos Area Manager of ITF, shed light on the Skill Up Artisan (SUPA) program, aimed at equipping and training youths with different skills to enable them become independent.
She explained that the world needs people who are skillful, not just those with educational certificates.
Igbur pointed out that the local government can partner with ITF, and the certificates obtained from the training will guarantee employment anywhere.
She expressed their commitment to empowering the youths of Mangu local government with skills that would make them self-reliant.
In company of the Jos Area Manager were Mr Chukwuka Malechi, Mr Dakas Obed Jesse and Mr Joe Ladan.

Samson Langkuk, Supervisory Councillor for Budget and Strategic Planning, Hon. Nathaniel Kyak, and the Chief Protocol to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayuba Kashaghat
