Mangu LGA Chairman mourns late former Dep. Gov, Prof. Tyoden

Mwolpun expressed deep shock over the passing of the late elder statesman and leader, describing him as a role model who has impacted positively in the lives of many.

The Executive Chairman of Mangu Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, has mourned the sudden demise of the former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Prof. Sunny Gwanle Tyoden, which occurred at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

Mwolpun expressed deep shock over the passing of the late elder statesman and leader, describing him as a role model who has impacted positively in the lives of many.

As a distinguished academic and politician, Prof. Tyoden left an indelible mark on Plateau State and Nigeria.

In a statement issued Monday by the his Director of Press, Jeremiah Dakahap, Mwolpun said the death of Prof. Tyoden will definitely create a big vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

“During his tenure as Vice Chancellor, University of Jos, he initiated reforms that transformed the institution and improved its academic standing.” Mwolpun said.

The Chairman noted that Prof. Tyoden’s legacy extends beyond politics and academia. He was a mentor to many students, young politicians and civil servants, and his commitment to public service and development earned him widespread respect.

Mwolpun further described Prof. Tyoden’s death as a great loss to Plateau State and Nigeria, given his significant contributions to governance, education and peace-building.

He recalled that Prof. Tyoden played a vital role in maintaining political stability and fostering unity in Plateau State during his tenure as Deputy Governor.

The Chairman expressed gratitude for Prof. Tyoden’s selfless service to society and pledged to continue building on the foundations he helped establish.

On behalf of the good people of Mangu local government, Mwolpun prayed for the repose of Prof. Tyoden’s soul and comfort for his family, friends and the entire state during this difficult time.
