In a significant display of solidarity and support, the Executive Chairman of Mangu Local Government, Hon. Amb. Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, has distributed relief materials and cash donations to communities ravaged by recent attacks in the area.
The affected communities that benefited from the gesture include Gyambwas in Mangu Halle District, Gyambwas Rinji, and Bauda in Langai District.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Press and Publicity to the Chairman, Jeremiah Dakahap, stated that the council’s Deputy Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Yakwen, who also chairs the Local Emergency Response Committee and represented Mwolpun, conveyed the Chairman’s sympathy to the victims and commended their resilience in the face of adversity.
Mwolpun assured the communities that they are not alone and that the government is committed to standing by them through these challenging times.
“I want to assure our people that we will not relent in our efforts to ensure your safety and well-being.
“We will continue to stand by you and work towards creating a more secure and prosperous environment for all. Together, we will overcome these challenges and build a brighter future for our communities.” Mwolpun said.
Responding from the various communities, they acknowledged that this act of kindness has brought a ray of hope to the affected populations, who have been grappling with the aftermath of the attacks.
They expressed their profound gratitude to the Executive Chairman and the management of the local government for the timely intervention.
However, they also urged the government to increase the deployment of security personnel to border areas to enhance their safety and security.
The communities affirmed that this act is a testament of the government’s commitment to provide necessary support and ensure the well-being of it’s citizens.
The items distributed include Rice, Maize, Garri, Sugar, Soap, Pomade, Food combo pack, Mats and cash donations.
In the entourage were, the Council Secretary, Hon. Tongpan Dachahat, Supervisory Councillor for Social Services, Hon. Patience Amos, Supervisory Councillor for Education, Hon. Elkanah Hassan, the Director of Social Services, Mr Sylvester Dapar, among others.
