Labour Minister invites NLC for meeting

The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC has been summoned once more by Minister of Labour and Employment Simon Bako Lalong to a meeting regarding its proposed indefinite strike.

The Minister stated that it was crucial that the Unions meet with the Government to resolve all outstanding issues in order to prevent further economic disruption. The Minister directed the Department of Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations to schedule a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for Monday, September 18, 2023.

The Minister asserts that in order to ensure industrial harmony, which is essential to achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda, President Bola Tinubu’s administration will always engage organised labour and address its concerns after due engagement and negotiations.

Recall that the Minister had asked the two Labour centres to a meeting to try and prevent the two-day strike that took place on September 5 and 6. However, only the TUC turned up.
