INEC declares Diket Plang Senator-elect for Plateau Central zone

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Saturday, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Diket Plang, as the winner of the Plateau State Central Senatorial Zone.

Plang who emerged victorious in the supplementary elections held across the zone, scored a total vote of 131,129 to emerge the winner, defeating his close rivals, Yohanna Gotom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 127,022 votes to come second while Garba Pwul of the Labour Party came third with 36,510 votes.

INEC Returning Officer, Dr. Jima Lar, who announced the result said that Plang, “having scored the highest votes at the election and having satisfied the requirements of the law has been declared the winner of the Plateau State Central Senatorial zone.”
