Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has called on residents of the state and all Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and show love to one another and mankind during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Governor who gave the charge in his Christmas message on Wednesday morning, joined millions of Christians worldwide in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, whose life and sacrifice redeemed humanity from sin.
In the message, Mutfwang called on Christians to “embody the values of love, kindness, and generosity as exemplified by Jesus Christ and to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of Plateau State and Nigeria.”
In the message, Gov. Mutfwang said:
“My dearly beloved people of Plateau State.
It is with great joy and gratitude to the Lord God Almighty that I bring you warm greetings and best wishes as we celebrate this memorable occasion of Christmas.
This is a time of profound reflection and celebration as we commemorate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose life and sacrifice embody the boundless love of God for humanity.
Christmas is a season of love, hope, and generosity. It is a time for us to embrace the virtues of selflessness, charity, and unity.
It is therefore my sincere prayer that this sacred season rekindles in each of us, a renewed commitment to building bridges of understanding, fostering peace, and uplifting one another, especially those in need.
This year, we have witnessed the life-changing power of togetherness.
Plateau State, for the first time in its history, hosted the Interdenominational Christmas Carols and Praise Festival, a monumental three-day event graced by distinguished personalities such as former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as well as many other dignitaries and visitors from far and wide.
The festival was not just a celebration of our faith but a grand exhibition of Plateau’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
To further position our state as a beacon of hope, warmth, and festivity, we declared December this year as Month of Tourism.
This initiative is aimed at spotlighting the unparalleled beauty and hospitality of Plateau State while boosting our local economy.
While we celebrate, I am deeply aware of the challenges many of our citizens face due to the prevailing economic realities.
I also wish to commiserate with those who lost their loved ones due to the activities of the criminal elements still terrorizing some of our communities.
I want to assure you that our government is working relentlessly to alleviate these hardships and create opportunities that will improve lives across Plateau State.
Let this season inspire us to remain resilient, hopeful, and united, knowing that brighter days are ahead. I want to further assure you that we will continue to deploy all lawful means to contain and ultimately defeat the evil people determined to undo us.
As we gather with our families and loved ones, I urge you to also spare a moment to pray for the peace, stability, and progress of our dear state and nation.
Together, with faith in God and in one another, we will overcome every challenge and build a Plateau State that we can all be proud of; a state defined by love, peace, and prosperity.
From my family and the Plateau State Government, I wish you a Merry Christmas filled with joy, love, and blessings. May the light of Christ continue to guide and protect you as we step into a prosperous New Year.
God bless Plateau State!God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
