The Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has celebrated his administration first year in office with a grand inter-denominational thanksgiving service, attended by religious leaders, government officials, and citizens, reflecting unity and gratitude for the state’s achievements.
This prestigious event held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.
In his speech at the inter-denominational thanksgiving service, Governor Caleb Mutfwang began by expressing profound gratitude to God and the people of Plateau State for the trust and responsibility bestowed upon him. He pledged to honor this trust by tirelessly seeking ways to improve the lives of the citizens, focusing particularly on uplifting the youth and supporting women in their roles within the community. Governor Mutfwang emphasized his commitment to working day and night to ensure better opportunities and a brighter future for all residents.
Addressing the pressing issue of insecurity, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the frustrations of the people but assured them of his unwavering dedication to securing every inch of Plateau land. He stressed that overcoming insecurity is crucial for the state’s development and reaffirmed his determination to restore safety and peace. The Governor also highlighted the importance of agricultural prosperity, urging citizens to return to farming with renewed vigor, promising that the state will witness abundant harvests and economic growth.
Governor Mutfwang aims to combat poverty in Plateau State, highlighting its potential for prosperity. He calls for continued prayers and divine guidance to navigate challenges and fulfill administration plans.
Unity and forgiveness were central themes in Governor Mutfwang’s address, where He urged the people to uproot bitterness and embrace forgiveness, fostering a spirit of togetherness and reconciliation. He expressed appreciation for the positive changes among the Muslim community and emphasized the administration’s commitment to justice, equity, and inclusiveness. The Governor assured all religious and ethnic groups of their inclusion in governance and appealed for cooperation, especially concerning the relocation efforts in Terminus and Bukuru, which are aimed at overall development.
Furthermore, Governor Mutfwang extended his gratitude to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Executive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his support towards Plateau State, particularly in addressing insecurity. He conveyed his belief in a prosperous future for Nigeria, despite the current challenges, and encouraged the people to maintain faith in God and in the country’s leadership. The Governor’s speech was a blend of gratitude, commitment, and a call for unity, setting a hopeful and determined tone for the administration’s future efforts.
The Guest Preacher, Rev. Silas Yako, in his exhortation, highlighted that thanksgiving should be a lifestyle, not just an annual event. Citing scriptures such as Psalm 103:1-2 and Romans 12:1-2, he stressed that true worship includes consistent gratitude and dedication to God’s purpose. He explained that living a life of thanksgiving involves rejoicing always, praying without ceasing, and giving thanks in all circumstances.
Rev. Yako encouraged the audience to avoid conforming to worldly patterns and to embrace a life marked by holiness, righteousness, and submission to God’s will, ultimately bringing pleasure to God and fulfilling His divine purpose.
In His Goodwill message during the thanksgiving, Former Governor Jonah David Jang, reassured Plateau State of divine protection and urged governor Mutfwang to follow the spiritual guidance, ensuring continued blessings from God. Jang praised the governor’s first year, prayed for progress and divine guidance. He urged focus and reliance on God’s wisdom for Plateau State’s development and prosperity.
