Gov. Mutfwang Hails EU Ambassador Isopi’s Transformative Impact at Farewell Reception in Abuja

In a bid to strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the European Union, Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, attended a farewell reception on Monday in honor of Her Excellency, Samuela Isopi, marking the conclusion of her tenure as EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS.

Samuela Isopi served in Nigeria with distinction from 2021 to 2024, making a significant impact by supporting the electoral process, promoting women and youth empowerment, enhancing peace and security, and fostering civil society participation in governance.

Speaking in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed profound appreciation to Ambassador Isopi for her dedication and empathy in her service to Nigeria. He noted that her efforts have positively changed the narrative in the country. 

“Her diplomatic engagement has been a transformative force in Nigeria,” Governor Mutfwang praised her for the love, empathy, and unwavering commitment she demonstrated during her tenure. He further highlighted that her extensive experience in various countries clearly shows that she is one of the European Union’s most trusted diplomats.

The Governor also commended the European Union and ambassadors from other nations for their continued partnership with Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of sustaining this collaboration.

“Europe needs Nigeria, and Nigeria needs Europe. It is no surprise that they are our largest trading partners, with a significant trade balance in our favor, demonstrating Europe’s commitment to Nigeria’s development,” Governor Mutfwang stated. 

“The best of Nigeria is yet to come, and we have no choice but to unleash our full potential, as the black race looks up to us. Nigeria and Africa will continue to be strong partners in advancing the continent’s cause.”

Governor Mutfwang expressed optimism about completing the EU-initiated projects in Plateau State and stressed the need to strengthen diplomatic relations for the benefit of citizens.

In her remarks, Ambassador Isopi expressed her gratitude for the support she received from Nigerians throughout her tenure. She assured that, though she is departing, the cherished memories and diplomatic ties would endure.

Ambassador Isopi highlighted her contributions and the harmonious working relationships she fostered with women, youth, the electoral body, and civil society organizations in Nigeria and across Africa. She emphasized that celebrating this enduring partnership is something that will remain close to her heart.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Sunday Dare, ambassadors from various countries, civil society organizations, and well-wishers.
