Drama as Portable scales fence to escape arrest over G-Wagon debt (Video)

There was high drama on Tuesday when controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, attempted to evade arrest by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command by jumping over a fence.

The police had gone to the singer’s residence in the Ota area of Ogun State to effect his arrest over a long standing debt on a Mercedez G-Wagon.

It was gathered that the “Zazzu” crooner had purchased the vehicle at the cost of N27 million and only paid N13 million and had bluntly refused to pay the remaining N14 million on the grounds that the vehicle was defective.

Reports state that the street-wise singer frequently asserted that the car was defective whenever the car dealer contacted him to collect the outstanding amount.

Following a petition against him, the police went to his residence to arrest him after he failed to honour several invitations but in a bid to escape arrest, Portable was said to have scaled the fence but was chased down by the police operatives.

In a video of his arrest which circulated on social media, the singer, dressed in a white and black stripe shirt, was seen standing alongside eight other people, having a friendly conversation with the officers who came for him.

After he was shown a warrant of arrest by the officers, the singer responded, “No problem, no problem Oga mi,” while pacing around.

He then turned to a man, believed to be his friend and in a twinkle of an eye, the singer climbed over a gate close by, taking to his heels.

In another video, he was seen being bundled by four police operatives into a standby vehicle.

Confirming his arrest, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said:

“Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
