Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have told opposition political parties not to bother coming to the state to campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections as President Bola Tinubu has already won even before going to the polls.
The lawmakers who endorsed the president during a solidarity visit to the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda in Abuja on Tuesday, also vowed to do everything within their power to take back power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and return the state to an APC state.
During the visit, Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Naanlanlon Gapyil said they will use every arsenal within their power to mobilize and campaign for Tinubu, as well as galvanize all the structures of the party in the state to make sure he wins the state.
Hon. Gapyil noted that despite the state being governed by a PDP governor, the APC is strong enough to oust the incumbent from office due to the gale of defections from the PDP to the APC in recent times.
Harping on the strength of the APC in the state, Hon. Gapyil said the structures to return Tinubu in 2027 have been put in place. Though it might sound strange to people who are not conversant with the strength of the party, a lot of work is being done underground to see that the ruling party becomes a dominant force.
He also assured the new APC National Chairman that as far as the House is concerned, there is no other party in the state apart from the APC and it would be foolhardy for other political parties to contemplate coming to the state to campaign.
Responding, Prof. Nentawe urged the lawmakers to extend their dominance beyond Plateau to win the election for President Tinubu, insisting that the APC is still the right party to fix Nigeria’s problems.
He called on them to do everything possible to snatch back power from the PDP and return Plateau State to an APC state.
