Condemnation Trails Killings in Riyom Community, Citizens Call for Sector Commander’s Removal

Riyom community is still reeling from the shock of the attack, which resulted in the deaths of 27 persons.

The recent killings in Riyom community, where about 27 people were confirmed dead have continued to generate widespread condemnation, with citizens calling for the removal of the Sector Commander, Lt Col. Thomaus Kpaveh.

Those who spoke on the killings noted that it was the same Sector Commander under whose watch over 200 persons were killed during the Christmas eve attacks in Bokkos communities

According to residents, Riyom community is still reeling from the shock of the attack, which resulted in the deaths of 27 persons.

They expressed outrage over the failure of security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack, despite earlier intelligence warnings. The Sector Commander’s revelation that no arrests were made during the attack has further fueled the outrage.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has already visited the affected communities in Riyom and called on the security agents to bring the perpetrators to book.

The Plateau State Government has faulted the failure of the soldiers of the Nigerian Army to arrest the killers of 27 farmers in the Tahoss community of the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday.

The state government blamed the military for the failure to arrest or neutralise any of the suspected killer herdsmen despite establishing contact with them during the attack.

Speaking during an interview, the state’s Information Commissioner, Joyce Ramnap, expressed concern, stating that the community that was attacked by the vicious marauders was close to an access road, which has military checkpoints, charging the need for more investigation.
