‘BSc in Law’ graduate, Vera Anyim cries out for help, seeks funds to change accommodation

Vera Anyim, the lady who was at the centre of controversy following her testimony at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, where she said she has a ‘BSc in Law’ degree
from the National Open University of Nigeria, has cried out to Nigerians for financial assistance to enable her get a decent accommodation.

Anyim’s testimony had led the Senior Pastor of the church, Pastor Paul Enenche to question its authenticity as there is there is no university in Nigeria that awards a BSc in Law.

Enenche who questioned the credibility of Anyim’s testimony, accused her of lying and ordered her off the stage, an action that sparked widespread debate with many Nigerians condemning the Pastor over the public disgrace of Anyim.

Checks by Nigerians later revealed that Anyim who is also a police officer, actually graduated with a law degree but had mixed up the category of the degree out of stage fright which led to the church issuing an apology over the way she was treated.

The incident also thrust Anyim into the spotlight and she became an instant celebrity with the Chairman of Portland Resorts Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Azubuike Ihemeje, inviting her for an all-expenses-paid vacation.

But after trip, she shocked Nigerians in a viral video on Friday where she appealed for financial assistance to enable her get a decent accommodation.

In the video, Anyim said due to her current status, her living condition is no longer safe and called upon the public for support.

“I want to say to Nigerians, you know this thing that happened is a thing of joy, I never dreamed of it, it came this moment, I never dream of being a celebrity,” she said.

“It just came all of a sudden. I never prepared for it. I want to use this medium to urge us to assist me with accommodation because I am not buoyant now to rent a house.

“Where I am staying now is risky and insecure. It is a very open place and everybody has already known I am a celebrity.

“When I left Abuja, some people in my compound didn’t know what was happening, but I was there, and so many of them have heard what was going on.

“Some have said they are waiting for me. My brother, who stays with me, told me that people gathered, all waiting for me.”

She also expressed concern that some people may assume she made a lot of money from the trip and might want to attack her.

“That is why I am voicing out, asking for assistance to enable me to get a place I can stay so that my life can be safe. As I’m talking to you, I’m just hiding myself so that people will not come and misbehave at my side,” she continued.

“So, please, if there is any way you can help me for me to get accommodation where I can be secured as a human being, intelligent people know what I am talking about.

“I don’t need to move or stay anyhow. If you don’t mind, you can assist me. Nothing is too small,” she concluded.
