Army chief orders arrest of killers of herder in Plateau

Chief of Army Staff Taoreed Lagbaja has instructed members of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) to apprehend Adamu Gabdo’s killers in Plateau. Gabdo was a prominent Fulani herder.

According to reports, Gabdo was slain on Saturday in the Panyam community of the state’s Mangu LGA.

The commander of OPSH, Abdusalam Abubakar, visited the neighbourhood on Tuesday and informed press that the army leader has ordered the arrest of the attackers within 48 hours.

Abubakar called the incident criminal and promised that the operation would find those responsible.

We learned a few days ago that an Ardo had been slain in Panyam. Because of this, neither my guys nor I have been able to sleep, he claimed.

“The COAS has given us 48 hours to apprehend the offenders, and we must complete our mission.

“This is a criminal act, and we will make sure that either the criminals are brought to justice or that they receive justice,” they said.

“I have no other duty except to see that property and lives are always protected, regardless of tribe or faith.

“I won’t give up on performing this duty to the best of my ability.”

He reaffirmed that the military and other security services would continue to maintain the state’s security but urged all local stakeholders to contribute to the investigation into who was responsible for the death.
