Armed Forces Day: Gov Mutfwang Highlights Commitment to Peace and Security (Photos)

The commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Plateau State concluded with the solemn laying of wreaths at the J.D. Gomwalk Secretariat cenotaph, symbolizing a poignant tribute to fallen heroes. Among those paying their respects were notable figures, including Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan (Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly), Chief Judge David Mann, and military leaders such as General Officer Commanding 3rd Division, Nigeria Army, and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Gen. A. Abubakar.

In a post-event interview with journalists, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang reiterated his unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare of both retired and active security personnel, emphasizing the need for optimal service delivery. Governor Mutfwang praised the professionalism of security officers and stressed the importance of a proactive approach in addressing any issues within the ranks.

“We will continue to honor our fallen heroes who sacrificed for our nation’s security,” declared Governor Mutfwang, extending condolences to the families affected by the loss or injury of their loved ones in service. He urged the people of Plateau State to support government initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace.

Former Governor Sen. Jonah David Jang, speaking at the RHINO Officers Mess, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, commended the efforts of serving officers in addressing the nation’s current security challenges. He called for closer collaboration between serving and retired officers to contribute effectively to the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities.

Col. CNC Sati B. Yilwat, Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Plateau State, expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his intervention in improving the living conditions of legion members. He reassured the commitment of his members towards a peaceful and united Plateau.

The conclusion of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day activities in Plateau State echoes a renewed dedication to the well-being and professionalism of the armed forces in the ongoing pursuit of national security.
