Three miners were reportedly killed and two others seriously injured by heavily armed gunmen who invaded a local tin mining site at Tanjol in Jol community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Movement (BYM), Mr Rwang Tengwong, the gunmen stormed the site at about 11am and attacked the innocent miners who were going about their means of livelihood.

“At about 11 a.m., gunmen killed three persons and injured two others at a mining site in Tanjol area of Jol community of Riyom,” Tengwong told newsmen.
“The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at a hospital within the locality,” he said.
Tengwong described the attack as one too many, and called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward the safety of lives and property in rural communities.
