1000 cattle, sheep, arrested for grazing on farmlands in Mangu

Troops of the Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have arrested over 1,000 cattle and sheep that were released by their minders to graze in farmlands at Dumunan village in Bwai district of Mangu local government area of Plateau State.

According to a statement by the Media and Information Officer of the OPSH, Captain Oya James, the animals were arrested on Tuesday as part of ongoing efforts to address the security concerns in the council and the state in general.

James stated that a preliminary investigation revealed that the cattle and sheep came from Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs respectively, and are currently in the custody of the OPSH for necessary action while their owners will also be prosecuted.

The statement also noted that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division NA and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar, has promised to seriously tackle the root causes of the crisis and block anything that could lead to renewed attacks in Mangu general area.
